With a wooden spoon or spatula,

mix first four ingredients together

until a dough forms and then

cover with plastic wrap or a

Dough should be shaggy.

Pre heat dutch oven

About 30 minutes before you are ready

to bake your bread heat a dutch oven

with the lid on at 450 for 30 minutes

While dutch oven is pre heating

turn your dough out onto a floured surface.

Fold over 4 times as you

add cheese and herbs to your

dough. Form into a ball and let

rest for 20 more minutes after

you place in a bowl on parchment paper.

Place your dough ball, still on the parchment paper into your very hot dutch oven. Take a sharp knife and cut down the center of the dough. This

helps it expand.Put the lid on and bake for

30 minutes covered. Then bake an additional 15 minutes uncovered.

The smell is divine!

Remove from oven and cool.

Slice it, butter it and eat❀️

1/4 tsp vegetable oil

5-6 c flour

(all purpose or bread flour)

To Start

In a large bowl dissolve

1 Tbs of the sugar in the warm water and then add the yeast. Let sit until it foams  (5 to 10 minutes)

Next

Add remaining sugar, salt & oil into the yeast. Mix in the flour one cup at a time. Dough should be tacky and clean the sides of the bowl. Too much flour makes a dry bread so if you have added too much flour, add a little hot water until you get the right consistancy.

Knead your dought for 7 minutes. Place in a well oiled bowl and turn dough to coat.

Cover with a damp towel & allow to rise until doubled, about 1 hour.

Punch down. Knead for 1 minute. Cut dough in half. Shape into 2 loaves. Place in 9x5 greased loaf pans.

Allow to rise 30 minutes or until an inch above pans.

Bake

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool, brush with butter. Enjoy.

Makes 2 standard loaves
